The Last Silent Minority
Listen to this Illinois State Rep. tear into a guy because he doesn't believe in Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. She asserts that the gentleman doesn't have the right to testify at the hearing because he doesn't believe in the Magic Man in the Sky. The jaw-dropping moment was this:

"[I]t’s dangerous for our children to even know that your philosophy exists!"

No shit. Because rationality is the enemy of all religion.

This is ridiculous on so many levels. And Christians think they're persecuted? Could you imagine if she had said the same thing to a Jew or Muslim? She'd be out of a job by now.

We're making inroads on helping out our GLBT friends get their rights (and thankfully we already have ours), but we need to work with them on acceptance as well.

I don't see anyone trying to get guns in school children's hands, so why would Mr. Atheist fight to get guns out of schools?

Freedom of religion, just so long as you have one and its close enough to being the right one.

Its seems that general statements of endorsement of Christianity are ok to far too many. Only specific endorsements of sects of Christianity are not allowed
ie, Christmas day = ok, Day that God came to Earth in human form = not ok

Whats dangerous is cultures spreading their mores and folkways by turning them into a divine law.

This is the land of an alleged Atheist, this is Illinois.

What if there was a God/gods and it/they were like Q, and all the religions were just made up by the Q and the real test was passed when people didn't believe in or doubted the existence of the omnipotent?

As I said previously, I think indoctrinating children in any religion (or lack thereof) is child abuse. If I ever have kids, they're going to get to read any books they want and go to any place of worship they want.

Indoctrinating through not so gentle suggestion is wrong, c'mon.

Make sure you raise their hand if they're asked if they think its unlikely there is a God.
